The Psychological Impact of a 3D Movie

Can 3D movies influence the Psyche? Everyone knows those piercing eyes of "Hannibal Lecter" from the movie Silence of the Lambs. Well, just to "open our minds" (no pun intended) a bit, we could ask a question... what if this movie was made in 3D? would there have been an even greater impact on the audiences? Would capturing those intense expressions, that skin texture and those hypnotic eyes in 3D bring the character that much closer to us? would it make him more intimidating?
